Running a home business is kind of a catch 22. Most people want to do it because they either need extra money to supplement their regular job's income or they've lost their job and need money period. But starting a home business requires money to get it going...money that most people don't have. That's the catch 22. Well, I've got some tips that will help you start your home business on a shoestring budget. These should help you get yourself up and running with minimum expense.
For starters, be wary of any home business "opportunities" where you have to put up a hefty startup fee. These can run into thousands of dollars. Almost all of these opportunities are scams designed to do nothing but separate you from your money. They'll promise to do all the work for you, giving you some web page to collect leads. Truth is, they don't do anything. It's all promise with no delivery. Starting a home business doesn't have to take thousands. My monthly expense after over five years of doing this is just a few hundred dollars. And that's running quite a few businesses.
Next thing you want to do is get yourself hosting. I know there are a lot of hosting packages out there. Some of them are quite expensive at $35 a month or higher. You don't need to pay all that much for hosting. You can get really good hosting for a startup business for $5 a month. Why that cheap and why just as good as the expensive plans? Because technology has gotten to the point where they can just give away stuff that years ago would cost you a fortune. Take advantage of it. A $5 plan is more than you'll ever need for a startup business.
Finally, when you purchase the domain for your business, get it for 10 years. The reason is because you get a deep discount for getting a domain for more than one year. See, the first year, the domain only costs you about $8 or so. But the second year, it's about $35. However, if you get it for multiple years, it's about $8 for each year right from the start. The reason you want to do this is simple. If you're serious about your business, you're going to keep it around for a long time. So there is no reason not to get your domain for multiple years.
These simple tips will greatly reduce your business startup expenses and get you on your way to running a home business that is both successful and profitable.
